  • Jan 20 (Sat) Web Site Training course

  • On Saturday 20 January eleven members of the PAC attended a seminar on designing a Web site given by Jerry Cook and Richard Lawrence of the PAC IT committee.

In the first half of the session Jerry gave a broad based introduction to the web and then, using the very excellent booklet that he had prepared, he demonstrated how to write a simple web page using the HTML language of the web.

In the second half of the session Richard showed how to create a  web page using Microsoft's FrontPage software. He then demonstrated how to transfer the page to a remote Web site using an FTP, file transfer protocol, programme.

Apart from one or two minor technical glitches the demonstration was successful. He then went on to edit a page on the PAC Web site and uploaded the edited page.

For those of you who missed the event you can download Jerry’s excellent booklet “ Getting started on the Web from the site. (Note that the booklet is in Adobe PDF format and you will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in for your browser software. If you don't already have it this can be obtained free from the Adobe Web site www.adobe.com
